Thank you. :) The missing year is a gift for fanfiction - there's an awful lot that you can explore both on the Valiant and down on the ground. Jack's situation isn't a pretty one, but at least he has some sympathetic contact during that time and you have to figure that that connection with Tish will come in handy for the both of them afterwards, when there are only a handful of people that they can talk to about it.

As for the culinary range available on the Valiant: I have a feeling that Jack isn't going to be safe to let loose in Tesco without a minder for a while.... ;)
