Thank you - glad you enjoyed it! :D Jack's life is complicated and messy and the highs and lows tend towards extremes, but I think that's all part of who he is and how he faces the world and learns from his experiences. I loved the glimpses we saw of his life in Fragments - he was clearly a part of a much-loved team there, had somewhere to belong, and I've always felt that what Jack really wanted from the Doctor was answers, not the chance to run away with the TARDIS and pick up where he left off. Too much water under the bridge for that, too many other people shaping his life, and that's just how it should be. :)
