orca_girl force-marched me through the high points of six seasons of SG1! So, if stargates are nigh-on indestructible, whatever happened to the one on Klorel's ship? Spoilers for SG-1 2.01 The Serpent's Lair.
"This fell through the Rift?"
"Nope," Jack grinned. "The sky."
"Right." Gwen frowned at the massive silver-grey ring lying flat in its archival crate. "Must've made one hell of a dent!"
"More a splash." Jack shrugged. "Explosions in Earth orbit, 1998. This survived atmospheric entry unscathed, came down off South Georgia. Torchwood found it, fished it out, brought it home for analysis."
"Explosions?"
"Yeah."
"It's from a spaceship?"
"Yeah."
"So... why's the box marked 'British National Debt'?"
The grin returned. "The Americans are always breaking their toys. Next time they need a replacement, that's what it's going to cost them!"
