This made me think of Neil Gaiman's "American Gods", which suggests that people are unconsciously drawn to some places on earth, and then create an excuse for returning there by building temples or tourist destinations. It's almost as if Cardiff sprang up where it did because of Jack's presence in its soil, making it truly his city,
