I know what you mean. I find TW an odd fandom for that - there's all this huge potential for historical (and, indeed, futuristic) situations, the in-house plot device generator Rift chucking out all manner of debris, all the weird mythology that goes with the country it's set in... and 95% of the fandom gets distracted by boy-kissing. I've had people stare at me for saying I write TW gen. ;)
