This is beautiful. I love the parallel you've got between Jack and Myfawny, both creatures out of time. I particularly love this line:
But no. He was the sum of his past, good and bad and otherwise, forged in a crucible far stranger than any native of this time could imagine.
It's gorgeous and sums Jack up perfectly. Nice work!
