Title: Riptide
Author: Aeshna
Fandom: Doctor Who
Rating: PG-13
Word count: 1,111
Characters: Jack Harkness
Summary: He was the rock in the stream, the boulder in the flow, the obstacle that could not be washed away.
Spoilers: DW3.13 The Last of the Time Lords
Disclaimer: Not mine, no matter how many DVDs and toys I buy! Everything here belongs to RTD and to Auntie Beeb, who already has my licence fee.
Archive: Sure, whoever wants it – just let me know where it ends up!
Notes: During the writing of something else, I suddenly needed to know where Jack was when time was resetting itself. A quick bit of rewatching confirmed that he was still down in the reconfigured TARDIS, of course, and that led to wondering just how much his unique relationship with the space-time continuum would play into his perception of things. It would have made for an awkward lump of exposition in the original story, so it's been calved off into this so that I can get it out of my head. :)

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mimarie and [livejournal.com profile] jwaneeta for looking this over for me. Feedback of any variety is very much appreciated but not compulsory – I'll post anyway! I've suffered for my art, now it's your turn....

Claiming for the [livejournal.com profile] 100_situations prompt, "return".

Title: "Up Above, Down Below"
Author: Aeshna
Fandom: Doctor Who
Rating: PG, gen
Word count: 2,387
Characters: Jack Harkness, Tish Jones
Summary: And to think that she had once been excited about Mr. Saxon giving her a job.
Spoilers: Heavy for DW3.12, The Sound of Drums and DW3.13 The Last of the Time Lords
Disclaimer: Not mine, no matter how many DVDs and toys I buy! Everything here belongs to RTD and to Auntie Beeb, who already has my licence fee.
Archive: Sure, whoever wants it – just let me know where it ends up!
Notes: Discussing The Last of the Time Lords with [livejournal.com profile] mimarie, it occurred to us that by the end of that lost year, for all that Jack may like and respect Martha, he'll probably have known her sister far longer and far better; it is, after all, hard not to bond with someone who is quite literally spoon-feeding you. This bunny followed on soon after. :) Unusually for one of my fics, I think it may spawn a sequel at some point.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mimarie and [livejournal.com profile] jwaneeta for sterling beta services – any remaining weirdnesses are all mine. Feedback of any variety is very much appreciated but not compulsory – I'll post anyway! I've suffered for my art, now it's your turn....

Up Above, Down Below )
Title: "Singularity"
Author: Aeshna
Fandom: Doctor Who
Rating: PG
Word count: 366
Characters: Jack Harkness
Summary: The universe folds. He plays on.
Spoilers: Maybe vague for 3(29)x11 Utopia and x13 The Last of the Timelords, if you squint a bit.
Disclaimer: Not mine, no matter how many DVDs and toys I buy! Everything here belongs to RTD and to Auntie Beeb, who already has my licence fee.
Archive: Sure, whoever wants it – just let me know where it ends up!
Notes: Something short that has been nagging at the back of my brain for a couple of weeks, based on the explanation of Jack's immortality in Utopia and that line about how he could still be out there somewhere. So, if Jack is a fixed point in space-time, what does that actually mean for him in the (very) long term?

(For the record, I'm not really getting the thrashing fuss over what sounded like a throwaway line in the last episode of DW s3, given that they'd stated the fixed and permanent nature of Jack's immortality quite clearly on several occasions. And that's the more interesting interpretation for me as viewer and writer, so.... :))

Title: "Afore the Dawning of the Day"
Author: Aeshna
Fandom: Torchwood
Rating: PG-13; gen, AU
Warnings: Character death
Word count: 2,784
Characters: Jack Harkness, Lisa Hallett
Summary: Apparently Ianto had been doing more with his time than filing, washing coffee cups and disposing of the occasional dead body.
Spoilers: Major for 1.04 Cyberwoman
Disclaimer: Not mine, no matter how many DVDs and toys I buy! Everything here belongs to RTD and to Auntie Beeb, who already has my licence fee.
Archive: Sure, whoever wants it – just let me know where it ends up!
Notes: And now for something a little different. This one has been lurking around in my brain ever since I saw Cyberwoman, resisting all efforts to exorcise it in drabble form. I have no trouble with the idea that the Torchwood crew could miss Lisa down in the depths of the Hub – I work in a massive originally-Victorian-but-constantly-updated collection of buildings with vast numbers of corridors, sub-basements and storerooms (we even have pterodactyls!) and if I wanted to lose something large for a few decades I don't doubt that I could – but a nagging bunny wanted to know what might have happened had things gone differently and Jack found her before Doctor Tanizaki showed up....

Thanks as always to my wonderful betas, [livejournal.com profile] mimarie and [livejournal.com profile] jwaneeta – any remaining weirdnesses are all mine. Feedback of any variety is much appreciated but not compulsory – I'll post anyway! I've suffered for my art, now it's your turn....

Rating: PG
Word count: 583
Characters: the TARDIS, Jack Harkness
Summary: But all children are ungrateful.
Spoilers: For the endings of Parting of the Ways (DW s1) and End of Days (TW s1) but it's all rather vague.
Disclaimer: Not mine, no matter how many DVDs and toys I buy! Everything here belongs to RTD and to Auntie Beeb, who already has my licence fee.
Archive: Sure, whoever wants it – just let me know where it ends up!
Notes: This was one of those bunnies that hopped up and savaged me at some ungodly hour of the morning, demanding that I scribble down the first couple of paragraphs before I got any sleep. Wasn't sure where it was going for a while, but then the Torchwood season finale aired and all became clear! Word count: 834
Characters: Jack Harkness
Summary: He didn't want eager underlings. He wanted challenges.
Spoilers: Vague for the end of Doctor Who s2 and for Jack's condition.

Notes: Written for the [livejournal.com profile] tw_wotd_fic community. I originally started writing this for "ossify", but then "olla podrida" (yes, I'd have said that was two words too) came up and it seemed to fit that one rather better.
